Portia's puppies arrived Jan 7th, 2011. She had 6 beautiful puppies, 3 girls and 3 boys. They are gorgeous colours ranging from light cream to red. Portia seems happy and content and the puppies are all eating well. They are close in size, a good sign of health.
The puppies visited the vet this morning Jan 10th, and are all healthy and have gained some weight since the birth. These puppies all have forever homes which they will be going to when they reach 8 weeks of age and after they have had their final vet appointment.

The puppies are 6 weeks old today, only 2 more weeks left until they are ready to go to their wonderful new families. Most of them have names now and we are starting to use them. The puppies love attention, we can't seem to pet them enough. They were to the vet today and he said they look great, they have one more appointment left before they are ready to go. They went outside for the first time today and seemed to enjoy it, it was a little windy so we didn't keep them outside for too long. They will get lots of time outside and lots of time inside playing with our whole family for the next 2 weeks. They also spend a little bit of time in the crate each day just to get them used to it. A few days before they leave they will get their nails clipped and their first bath.

The puppies are already 4 weeks old. They will be coming downstairs to live in our living room for the next 4 weeks so that they get lots of attention. Today will be the first day that they have solid food. They will be getting Royal Canin baby dog food soaked in water and then put in the blender. All of the puppies have some teeth now. They love to run and play. Normally we would take them outside for the first time this week but we are going to hold off until next week because of the cold. The puppies are so cute now, the photos do not do them justice. I will try to get some video and we welcome visitors with notice.

We had a busy week with the puppies this week. They all opened their eyes on their 2 week birthday and have been learning to walk. They are still a little wobbly but they are walking better everyday and have started to play with each other. They are still sleeping a lot but we will bring them into our family room soon so that they will get a lot of attention. All of the puppies had their nails clipped for the first time and will be handled around their mouths, noses, ears, tails, each of their feet, and placed on their backs everyday so that they will be comfortable with grooming and routine care.

The puppies are all doing well, they have gained weight and are trying to walk. They have not opened their eyes yet but they will any day now. They spend most of their day eating and sleeping right now but they loved to be petted and scratched behind the ear. The red boy even kicks his hind leg when you get the right spot. We are patiently waiting for them to be ready to play.
